Victoria Spackman ONZM

Chief Executive

Victoria is one of the owners of the Gibson Group, as well as being its Chief Executive.  In her management role she ensures that the company’s hard won reputation for creativity, innovation and quality are maintained.  She leads a group of diverse and talented producers, creatives and technicians towards the company’s strategic goals.  The company’s aims include continuing the push into new export markets, including China, Korea, the Middle East, the US and Egypt.  Victoria’s role takes her on frequent trips to international markets, including Australia, France, Denmark, Egypt, Hong Kong and China.

Victoria’s qualifications balance the creative (theatre and film) and the analytical (law and linguistics).  In 2012 she was awarded the prestigious Private Sector In-House Lawyer of the Year award to recognise her contribution to the profession and the Gibson Group. In 2015, her contribution was acknowledged when she was the category winner of the Arts and Culture section of the national Women of Influence Awards. Against stiff, and rowdy, competition, she won the coveted Park Road Post Oscar Picking Competition in 2016.

At a recent TEDx Auckland event, Victoria spoke to a full house about the Gibson Group's Wall Project. Watch the video here.

She is a director of Screenrights in Australia, has served 6 years on the board of SPADA (the Screen Production and Development Association) and 12 years on the board of BATS Theatre in Wellington. In July 2015 she was appointed to the board of Education New Zealand and in June 2016 was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to theatre, film and television. Victoria was honoured on the Queen's 90th Birthday Honours List, which you can find here.
